A unique boutique in Midway keeps alive the traditions that owner Clare McCarthy grew up with in her native Ireland.
The walls of Celtic Trends are lined with artwork depicting Celtic crosses, artwork, and Irish landscape prints featuring beautiful fields enclosed by suspiciously familiar stone walls. Tables are stacked with bulky knit sweaters and lush, pure-wool scarves.
"Many Irish people settled in this area hundreds of years ago and brought the stone wall-building tradition with them," said Parisel, who now lives in Midway with her family. "It reminds me of my home in County Cork."
Parisel, whose maiden name is McCarthy, said she decided to start her Irish import business after years of hauling Irish arts and crafts back to America for friends.
"It became obvious to me that there was a real demand for Irish made products, so I decided to open my store here in Midway."
This unique Irish gift store in Kentucky is well worth the visit. Celtic Trends offers a diverse selection of fine goods from Ireland and Scotland to the Central Kentucky area and beyond.
