Aberdeen v Celtic (Preview)

Probable line up for Aberdeen; - 4-4-2 - Lewis

- McCrorie, Hoban, Considine and Hayes

- McLennan, Ferguson, Campbell and Kennedy

- Hornby and McGinn This is based on their line up for their last game (Cup game versus Livingston) and the fact that was Stephen Glass's first team selection and he may therefore go with the same team again. Aberdeen are a possession based team and have 55% possession in the games out with the Glasgow 2 but a lot of that is in their own half with only 27% on average of the game being played in the final 3rd of the pitch (in games versus the rest not including the Glasgow 2).

They have 11.33 of NP xG created from build up play in their 34 games so far this season (which is 3rd in the SPFL behind Rangers and us). This is actually 2nd for % of total NP xG created (behind Rangers) at 29.6% of their total NP xG creation. 7 of their goals have come from build up play. (Build up play being chances created with more than 3 passes involved and starting in your own half). Figures courtesy of @ModernFitba.

They have conceded 6 goals from turnovers and 6 goals from penalties.

Aberdeen have been ridiculed for low scoring this season however they have had 17 clean sheets this season and have had 7 clean sheets in their last 12 games.

Average shots on target from their opponents in their last 12 games is 2.75.

Below is Aberdeen's rolling NP xG for and against on a 6 game rolling average basis. After their last league game against St Johnstone their differential is in a minus which is the first time since Kilmarnock on 20th December. However they did beat a very good St Johnstone side 1-0 away from home.

In our previous meeting at Pittodrie this season we had a total of 649 touches and 447 passes and this was our 2nd lowest of the season (behind Jan 2nd game at Ibrox).

Scott Brown will be playing against his new team tonight. Will that make any difference ? Will it be seen as a conflict of interest? I imagine Scott Brown will do his upmost to give Celtic a win to prove his professionalism but it's always a risk in these pre-contract situations.

My prediction for tonight is 0-0.
