Probabilities for the match are Celtic 82%, Aberdeen 6% and 12% for the draw.
Against St Mirren on Wednesday Aberdeen lined up with the following team;
24 Kelle Roos
18 Matthew Pollock, 27 Angus MacDonald and 4 Liam Scales
2 Ross McCrorie, 16 Ylber Ramadani, 20 Leighton Clarkson, 6 Graeme Shinnie and 17 Johnny Hayes
11 Duk and 9 Bojan Miovski
Scales will be ineligible for this game due to Celtic being his parent club so it won’t be 10 in a row for the back four of Roos, Pollock, MacDonald and Scales. 9 games in a row with the same back line will have definitely contributed to Aberdeen’s success in that period which was 6 wins and a draw.
Those 9 games also saw Hayes, Clarkston and Miovski playing every game and Ramadani and Duk played 8 of the 9. McCrorie played 6 of the 9 and Shinnie only played 2 of the 9 due to suspension.
That is a fairly settled team for Aberdeen and they have done extremely well under Barry Robson to turn things around and cement a 3rd place in the Scottish Premier League.
Against St Mirren Marley Watkins, Connor Barron and Alfie Bavidge came on as subs for Miovski, Ramadani and Duk. Joe Lewis, Jayden Richardson, Hayden Coulson, Shayden Morris, Ryan Duncan and Jack MacKenzie were all unused subs.
With a Jayden, Hayden and Shayden surely Aberdeen will sign an Aiden in the summer.
Against St Mirren Aberdeen won 3-0 with an xG of 1.57 to St Mirren’s 0.79.
Aberdeen’s xGD graph below.
Aberdeen had a horrendous run in the middle of the season picking up only 3 wins and a draw in the 13 games from Rangers away in October to Motherwell at home in February.
This ultimately cost Jim Goodwin his job and allowed Barry Robson to take over the reigns and show what he could do while in temporary charge.
From that Motherwell game in February Aberdeen won 8 out of 9 games.
Kyogo has 1.35 xG against Aberdeen so far this season with Hatate next on 0.86 and then O’Riley is 3rd on 0.64.
For xA it is O’Riley the highest on 1.61 with Jota and Hatate next on 1.02 and 0.97.
So Hatate could be the main man for Celtic on Saturday. However an in form Aberdeen side will be a test for an out of form Celtic side.
Team predictions are difficult at the moment although I did surprise many with my Bain prediction before the Hibs game.
I’m going to go for the following team;
Hart
Ralston, Starfelt, Kobayashi and Taylor
O’Riley, McGregor and Hatate
Jota, Kyogo and Maeda
With that being the line up for the cup final the following week too.
Haksabanovic looked to maybe have pulled his hamstring so he might miss out and Vata could get his place in the squad.
Predicted subs to be brought on are – Turnbull, Iwata, Forrest, Abada and Oh
