Celtic v Hearts (Sun Dec 20th 2020)

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

Scottish Cup (2019/2020 season) Final, Hampden Park, Glasgow

Celtic 3 (Christie 19, Edouard PEN 29, Griffiths 105)

Hearts 3 (Boyce 48, Kingsley 67, Ginnelly 111)

Full time 2-2. AET 3-3. Celtic won their Quadruple Treble 4-3 on penalties. (Griffiths, McGregor, Johnston and Ajer scored Celtic's penalties and Christie missed his).

Celtic took the lead due Christie picking up a loose ball and scoring a wonder goal from outside the box. Duffy's header was handballed from a corner and Edouard scored the resulting penalty. A Hearts attack down the left beat Ajer and McGregor and when the cross came in Duffy had to pick up two as Jullien had left his man. Duffy didn't get close to stopping Hearts scoring. Hearts' second came from a corner where Hazard was fouled but nothing given and Turnbull's man at the back post scored a header.

Celtic took the lead in extra time when Brown won the header from Christie's corner and Griffiths was sharp to get the loose ball. Hearts then equalised again and again from a free kick. Hazard flapped and after the ball was headed back it was tapped in by Ginnelly who had left Griffiths and was being watched by Ajer.

Celtic changed the team again with Brown coming in for Soro and Christie coming in for Frimpong. Forrest was still unavailable. Soro apparently had food poisoning although did manage to come on as a sub.

Celtic lined up with;

- Hazard

- Ajer, Jullien, Duffy and Taylor

- Brown and McGregor

- Christie, Turnbull and Elyounoussi

- Edouard

Griffiths, Soro, Rogic, Johnston, Frimpong and Laxalt all came on as subs. Keeping up Laxalt's appearances in every game since he signed.

Key note - Celtic's opponents NP xG was the lowest of the season in the last game after the introduction of Soro and Soro was left out of this game.
