(Turnbull 17 PEN & 42, Kyogo 26 and O'Riley 73)

Ross County 2

xG 1.13

(White 60 and Brown 90+5)

Celtic's Post Shot xG was 5.77 which is better than everyone of Ange’s over the last two seasons with the exception of versus St Mirren at home and Dundee at home (both August 2021).

The first quarter of the game was 0.83 xG for both teams.

Celtic made 806 passes. Celtic made 605 passes in November when previously at home to Ross County. However only 167 were in the final 3rd (318 in Nov) which is 21% of the passes total. It was 53% of the passes in November that were in the final 3rd.

Celtic played 61 long balls (versus 32 in November) and they had 15 crosses in total in the match (versus 31 in November). The total match possession in the final 3rd was 24%. It was 45% in November.

Celtic lined up with;

  • Hart

  • Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Nawrocki and Taylor

  • O'Riley and McGregor

  • Abada, Turnbull and Maeda

  • Kyogo

There were 5 changes to the line up from the Scottish Cup Final. Carter-Vickers and new signing Nawrocki came into the squad and Turnbull was promoted from the bench. They were preferred over Iwata, Starfelt and Hatate with those 3 players dropping to the bench. Ralston came in for the injured Johnston and Abada came in for the transferred Jota.

Also missing from the squad from that cup final were Haksabanovic, Siegrist, Bernabei and Welsh. Coming into the squad to replace them were Yang, Holm, Kwon and Bain. Oh and Forrest were the other two on the bench, both retaining their place in the squad from cup final day.

It was Turnbull's first league start since November 2022 which was also against Ross County at home. He scored Celtic's first goal that day too.

Starfelt, Hatate, Yang, Forrest and Holm came on for Nawrocki, Turnbull, Abada, Kyogo and O'Riley.

Turnbull and Hatate played 52 passes in total compared to Turnbull playing 70 passes in the 2-1 home game v Ross Co last season (Nov). 18 passes less while team’s total was 201 more passes. An indication that the more attacking midfielder is further forward.

Kyogo played 29 passes (versus only 4 in November versus Ross County at home). Kyogo’s average last season 8.7 passes per game.

Hart played 18 passes to Nawrocki but only 8 to Carter-Vickers. He also had 7 to Starfelt. Hart received 16 from Carter-Vickers but only 6 from Nawrocki & 5 from Starfelt.

Best performers for Non Penalty xG were Turnbull 1.00, Kyogo 0.7, O'Riley 0.52 and Forrest 0.51.

Best for xA were Kyogo 0.64, O'Riley 0.48 and Maeda 0.24. Kyogo well exceeding his best from last season which was 0.3 versus Hearts in March.

Top goal contributor combined was Kyogo on 1.34.
