Hibernian v Celtic (Match Stats)

Hibernian 0

xG 0.55

Celtic 4

xG 2.47

(Mooy 28 & 58 PEN, Maeda 36 and Kyogo 64)

64% of Celtic's Non Penalty xG came in the 2nd half and while Celtic only registered 1.69 Non Penalty xG there was a sort of control about Celtic's play.

42% of Celtic's passes were backwards and that is the most of any league game this season but it didn't look like they were struggling to break down Hibs. There just seemed to be a confidence amongst the players to take their time on the ball. Possibly to draw Hibs out.

Another noticeable stat was the 13 corners had which was the most of any game this season.

Maeda had 0.96 expected goal contribution with 0.51 xG and 0.45 xA and he had a goal and an assist to go with that. Maeda won 3 out of 3 tackles and had 7 recoveries.

It's not often a midfielder has more passes in a game than Callum McGregor but Aaron Mooy did with 76 versus McGregor's 62.

Celtic lined up with;

  • Hart

  • Hatate, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt and Taylor

  • O'Riley, McGregor and Mooy

  • Abada, Kyogo and Maeda

Celtic had one change from the team that started versus St Johnstone with Abada coming in for Forrest.

Forrest, Bernabei, Giakoumakis, Jota and Vata all came on as subs for Abada, Taylor, Kyogo, O'Riley and Maeda. Jota playing in the number 10 position for the last 6 minutes with Vata getting his league debut wide left. Vata had 0.02 xG.

The worries for Celtic after the game were that Kyogo and Maeda were limping (but maybe just niggles) and it looked as if Taylor done his hamstring.
