Hibernian v Celtic (Match Stats)

Hibernian 4

xG 1.70

(Youan 52 & 80, Nisbet PEN 75 and Bernabei OG 86)

Celtic 2

xG 2.37

(Hatate PEN 41 and Oh 58)

Maeda SENT OFF 67

60% of Hibernian's xG came in the last quarter of the game after Celtic had made another 3 subs and after Maeda had been sent off.

1.7 xGA was the 3rd highest of the season.

20% of Celtic's passes came from the two centre backs and that's well down on the 29% average for the season. Bernabei with 17% was very high as the average for left backs this season is 12%.

James Forrest had 21 passes playing 25 minutes versus Liel Abada's 22 passes in 65 minutes.

That's the first time Ange's team have lost in the league from a winning position.

Celtic lined up with;

  • Bain

  • Ralston, Starfelt, Kobayashi and Bernabei

  • Hatate, Iwata and McGregor

  • Abada, Oh and Haksabanovic

Six changes to Saturday's team with Bain, Kobayashi, Bernabei, Abada, Oh and Haksabanovic all coming in for Hart, Taylor, O'Riley, Jota, Kyogo and Maeada.

Mooy was still out injured and Welsh came into the squad for Summers.

Maeda, Turnbull, O'Riley, Forrest and Kyogo came on as subs for Haksabanovic, Iwata, Hatate, Abada and Oh.

I did predict on my Podcast with Endless Celts last night that Bain would start and that raised a few eyebrows. https://www.youtube.com/live/pJgxJCwlZG8?feature=share

The biggest Non Penalty xG contributors in the match for Celtic were Oh with 0.94, Abada with 0.21 and Ralston with 0.16. Their Post Shot xG being 0.74, 0.48 and 0.

For xA it was Bernabei with 1.03, Ralston 0.27 and Abada 0.22. Bernabei's 1.03 being the 3rd highest in a match of any Celtic player this season behind O'Riley at Tannadice in the 9-0 game (1.34) and Jota versus Hibernian in March (1.04).
