Here is the link to my previous Rangers v Celtic preview which was before the Cup game .... https://www.celtictrends.com/post/heart-versus-head
I could copy and paste the preview for 2 reasons;
- 1) I've been back to work full time now after furlough so that has taken a bit of the focus for now.
- 2) It's the same situation going into the game. We are creating chances in these games. The commentary is that we were the better team. And we don't get a result. Groundhog day.
We've had NP xG 5.39 v 5.16 in games v Rangers this year.
However Rangers didn't need to create as games have been going their way.
Their aims in game this year have been Win in October, Draw in January, Draw in March and Win in April. They achieved their aim in each game (overachieving in January with a win). You could actually argue they might have been happy with a Draw in October as well. But a Win stamped their superiority over us and made us crumble for the rest of the season.
Only 9% of the time were they not achieving their aim (34mins out of 360).
There was only 9 minutes in the October game when they weren't winning.
They were only getting beat for 15 minutes in March in a game they were clearly aiming for a Draw.
There was only 10 minutes in the Cup game last month when they weren't winning.
Only 9% of the time (34 mins out of 360) were they not achieving what they wanted to against us.
Yet every game we have went into against them we have predicted a Win.
I'm making no predictions today. Because the above is not good reading.
Also I've just seen the team and Brown is playing again. Crazy sentimental decision that puts a player about the Club. I'm glad Forrest is playing and he has provided badly missed width that I've talked about in other articles;
I'm just hoping for a victory and something to give us a bit of happiness at the end of a miserable season.
Hopefully the rumours of Howe's contract at Bournemouth now ending this month are true and he signs officially soon (on a 10 year contract).
Enjoy the game ... Hail Hail
